In the field of industrial processing, laser cutting machines have become important equipment for section steel processing due to their advantages of high precision and high efficiency. However, the structural characteristics of section steel are different from those of flat plates. During the processing, attention must be paid to various details to ensure processing results and operational safety. The specific precautions are as follows:
1. Material Pretreatment Before Processing
During storage and transportation, the surface of section steel is prone to adhering to oil stains, rust or dust. These impurities will directly affect the precision and cut quality of laser cutting. Before processing, the surface of section steel must be thoroughly cleaned: special cleaning agents should be used to remove oil stains, and sandpaper or derusting tools should be used to treat rust, ensuring no obvious impurities on the surface.
At the same time, it is necessary to check whether the appearance of section steel has deformation. If there are problems such as bending or bulging, correction should be carried out first to avoid positioning deviations during cutting caused by irregular shapes of section steel, which may affect the final processing results.
2. Reasonable Adjustment of Equipment Parameters
The parameter settings of the laser cutting machine need to be adjusted in a targeted manner according to the material and structural characteristics of section steel. Firstly, the appropriate laser power should be determined: excessive power may lead to overly wide cuts and excessive surface melting, while insufficient power may result in incomplete cutting.
Secondly, the cutting speed should be adjusted by combining the thickness and hardness of section steel to find a balance between speed and cutting quality, avoiding rough cuts caused by excessive speed or reduced processing efficiency caused by overly slow speed. In addition, the type and pressure of auxiliary gas also need to be matched: different materials of section steel are suitable for different auxiliary gases to achieve the best slag discharge effect and cut protection, and reduce oxidation.
3. Positioning and Fixing During Processing
Section steel is mostly in the shape of long strips or special shapes, which is prone to shaking during processing. Therefore, proper positioning and fixing work must be done. Firstly, according to the size and shape of section steel, appropriate tooling fixtures should be selected to ensure that the fixtures can fit closely to the surface of section steel and prevent displacement during processing.
Secondly, the positioning datum must be accurate: the positioning system of the equipment should be used to align the processing position of section steel with the cutting path accurately. Especially for section steel that requires multi-section cutting or complex shaping, the positioning must be checked repeatedly each time to prevent deviations. At the same time, during the cutting process, the tightness of the fixtures should be checked regularly to avoid fixture loosening caused by vibration, which may affect processing precision.
4. Quality Inspection and Treatment After Processing
After the completion of cutting, a comprehensive inspection of the processing quality of section steel is required. Firstly, observe whether the cut surface is flat and whether there are burrs, slag or oxide layers. If such problems exist, measures such as grinding and polishing should be taken in a timely manner to ensure that the cut meets the requirements of subsequent assembly or use.
Secondly, check the dimensional precision of section steel: measure the dimensions of key parts by comparing with the design drawings to confirm whether they are within the allowable error range. In addition, it is necessary to check the deformation of section steel. If obvious bending occurs after cutting, the cause should be analyzed and corresponding correction measures should be taken to prevent unqualified products from entering the subsequent processes.
5. Safety Protection During Operation
When processing section steel with a laser cutting machine, strict safety protection work must be done. Operators must wear special protective glasses to prevent laser damage to the eyes, and at the same time wear heat-resistant and anti-static work clothes and gloves to avoid contact with high-temperature cuts or live parts of the equipment. Obvious warning signs should be set in the processing area to prohibit irrelevant personnel from entering and prevent accidents. In addition, the safety devices of the equipment, such as laser shields and emergency stop buttons, should be checked regularly to ensure their normal functions. If faults or potential safety hazards are found in the equipment, the machine must be shut down immediately for maintenance, and processing can only be resumed after the problems are solved.
